poverty and new needs

Human brotherhood is indispensable to counteract new and old poverty: the "United States of the World" works to satisfy both basic needs for survival but above all affective and relational needs ...

In 1994, when organising an international conference on community psychology in Lisbon, the "United States of the World" highlighted the imminent risk of anarchic globalisation with ethical and economic consequences capable of fuelling an abnormal gap between the rich and the poor: thanks also to the participation of the Salesian Family, it has been possible to stem this drift by educating young people all over the world in the values of simplicity, sharing of resources and the right to a dignified life, guaranteeing fair access to resources to combat new and old poverty.
Over a thousand aid programme initiatives have been carried out in various countries in more than thirty years.
