Solidarity with the people of Nepal

The United States of the World expresses its solidarity and sympathy with the people of Nepal affected by a devastating flash flood which struck the Rasuwa district, on the border with Tibet, on 26 August 2026, following the collapse of a glacier and a massive deluge of water, ice, rocks and mud. The death toll has exceeded 1,100, whilst over 5,000 people are still missing. Villages, bridges, roads and hydroelectric power stations have been swept away. Rescue workers, hampered by bad weather, continue to search for survivors. Three Italians are still missing.
The Nepalese army has stepped up search and rescue operations twelve days after the devastating floods that struck the north of the country.
