Mediterranean Award of Peace for Sarajevo: the announcement

The United States of the World awarded the prestigious “Thirty-Year Mediterranean Award for Peace” to the “City-Martyr” of Srebrenica, on the occasion of the events celebrating the siege.
The prestigious title - the "Totem for Peace" by the sculptor Molinari - will be presented to Sarajevo Mayor Predrag Puharić. The announcement was made at the United States of the World headquarters by Secretary-General Michele Capasso and the UN Secretary-General and High Representative for the Alliance of Civilisations, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, to the Ambassador of Bosnia to Italy Amira Arifović Harms.
Speakers included the deputy mayor of Srebrenica and president of the committee for the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the genocide Hamdija Fejzić accompanied by Sadeta Suljić, prof. Lhassan Hbid with his wife Lamia, the deputy mayor of Gernika Jon Lejarraga, a representation of the Harbour Offices - Coast Guard Corps led by Admiral Gaetano Angora, diplomats and men of culture from various countries, the Ambassadors of the United States of the World Giuseppe Lumia, Giuseppe D'Antonio, Massimo Pica Ciamarra, Gilles Altan.
