Gernica citizens named Standard Bearers of the United States of the World
The United States of the World resolved to award the title of "Standard Bearers of Peace" to the inhabitants of the world's ‘War Cities’, starting with Gernica.
The prestigious title was awarded to current and future inhabitants.
The ceremony took place in the "‘House of Culture" in Gernika in the presence of the Secretary-General Michele Capasso, the Mayor of Gernika - Lumo José Maria Gorroño Etxebarrieta and the Director of the Museum of Peace Pia Molinari, who presented the "Standard Bearers" to two survivors: Cruzita Etxabe and Maria Carmen Aguirre, representing all the inhabitants of the city, many of whom were present.
