Samira Sabzian was hanged

At dawn this morning, Samira Sabzian was hanged. The international mobilisation by the "United States of the World", the 'Kimiyya' network, the NGO 'Iran Human Rights' and other international organisations was to no avail.
Samira had been a child bride. Given in marriage when she was 15 years old, she had been a victim of domestic violence. In 2013, she had been accused of murdering her husband and sentenced to death. She spent 10 years on death row without seeing her children. She only met them yesterday to say goodbye.
According to Iran Human Rights sources, she was executed in Qeezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. Her execution was originally scheduled for Wednesday, 13 December, but had been postponed for a week also in the wake of the reaction from civil society.
"Samira was a victim of the practice of early marriage and we saw how much she suffered in prison because she was denied access to her children," said Secretary-General Michele Capasso.
